Universities play the role by developing a cadre of young professionals with a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges of our time and equipped with skills to address them. As the triple planetary crisis deepens, several national and international initiatives are geared towards ‘greening’ higher education. This is happening at the curricular level where sustainability is being taught as a distinct or cross cutting component, fostering research and innovation towards sustainability solutions, as well as through greening campus initiatives.
In this context the special session on “Bringing a Culture of Sustainability in the Higher Education Institutions” will deliberate on
- Core sustainability learnings to be integrated into higher education curriculum.
- Develop a cross-cutting framework for research and teaching.
- Campus sustainability initiatives for transformative learning
- Explore collaborations between universities, governments, and communities to scale up sustainability action.
